Deanna Bamford is a self-taught artist based in Nyngan, NSW, originally from Port Macquarie.
Her artistic journey began as a child navigating life in an unpredictable home life. For Deanna, art became more than just a creative outlet—it was a sanctuary, a way to escape into vibrant worlds far brighter than the one she knew. It was in those early years that she discovered art wasn’t just something she did—it was who she was.
Now, as an adult, Deanna has nurtured that innate creativity into a refined and deeply personal painting practice. Working primarily with acrylics on canvas, her work is instantly recognisable for its vivid colour palette, often inspired by florals and landscapes. Her love for painting blossomed 18 months ago, evolving from a background in sketch art. While drawing gave her structure, it’s the expressive freedom of painting that truly unlocked her voice.
Her work celebrates colour as a form of healing and connection. “Art is the colour in a world that can sometimes feel very dark,” she says. Each brushstroke is infused with joy, memory, and the quiet hope that others will see in her paintings a reason to smile. Her florals—often likened to the spirit of Van Gogh—aren’t just pretty; they are tributes to beauty, resilience, and life. Each petal, bloom, and horizon speaks to the bright side of humanity.
Deanna’s art practice is not only personal—it’s also deeply community-minded. She has delivered painting workshops designed to create safe, joyful spaces where people can relax, let their guard down, and experience the calming power of creativity. Her work and workshops have been featured in the Western Plains News, highlighting her ability to use art as a tool for connection and well-being.
In 2023, Deanna’s talents were officially recognised when she won First Prize in the Landscape category at the Nyngan Show. She has sold four commissioned artworks to private collectors and continues to take on bespoke projects. One of her proudest achievements to date is Forever View—a deeply emotional piece inspired by the resting place of her late mother-in-law. This painting, which helped her through a period of profound grief, remains a cornerstone of her personal collection.
Her dream is to see her work hanging in galleries across Australia and to one day mentor emerging artists in her community, helping them find their own voice through art.
Above all, Deanna wants people to know that her art is for everyone. It’s joyful, accessible, and meant to bring light. Whether you’re buying a painting, booking an exhibition, or commissioning a custom piece, her hope is simple: “I want my work to make people smile. To give them a little happy place to return to.”
Inquiries and commissions welcome. Let art bring a little colour to your world.
